Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and basic profile details. If you sign in through Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We do not access your Google password or any other Google account data.
Uploaded Screenshots
To analyze your dating profile, you upload screenshots from your dating app. These images are sent to our AI processing pipeline for analysis. Screenshots are processed in real time and are automatically deleted from our servers within 24 hours of upload. We do not store your screenshots permanently, and we do not use them to train AI models.
Payment Information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see, store, or have access to your full credit card number. Stripe provides us with a transaction reference, the last four digits of your card, and the card brand so we can display your payment history.
Usage Data
We collect basic usage data such as pages visited, features used, and session duration. This helps us understand how people use DateMakeover so we can improve the experience.
How We Use Your Information
- Providing the service: processing your screenshots through our AI analysis, delivering your profile review and coaching recommendations.
- Account management: authenticating your identity, managing your subscription, and communicating service updates.
- Improving the product: analyzing aggregate usage patterns to make DateMakeover better. We never use individual screenshots or personal data for this purpose.
Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third-party services:
- Stripe for payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) for hosting and AI processing infrastructure.
- Google for optional sign-in authentication via OAuth.
- PostHog for product analytics. PostHog collects anonymized usage data to help us understand feature adoption and user flows. You can opt out of analytics tracking in your account settings.
Cookies and Tracking
We use a minimal set of cookies strictly necessary for the service to function:
- Session cookies: used to keep you logged in and maintain your session state. These expire when you close your browser or after a period of inactivity.
- Analytics cookies: PostHog may set cookies for anonymized analytics. These do not track you across other websites and can be blocked without affecting your use of DateMakeover.
We do not use advertising cookies or sell your data to advertisers.
Data Retention
- Screenshots: automatically deleted within 24 hours of upload. Once deleted, they cannot be recovered.
- Analysis results: your profile review text and recommendations are retained in your account so you can reference them later. These are deleted when you delete your account.
- Account data: retained for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days.
- Payment records: transaction records are retained as required by applicable tax and financial regulations, typically for up to 7 years.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.
- Export your data including your profile reviews and account information.
- Opt out of marketing emails. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also manage email preferences in your account settings.
- Opt out of analytics tracking through your account settings or by using a browser-based tracking blocker.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you also have rights under GDPR including the right to access, rectify, and port your personal data. Contact us to exercise these rights.
Security
We use industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL) for all data in transit. Uploaded screenshots are processed in isolated environments and deleted automatically. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe, which is PCI DSS Level 1 certified.
Children's Privacy
DateMakeover is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete their account and associated data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on our website. Continued use of DateMakeover after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
